Gov. Mark Dayton Signs 4 Bills Into Law Thursday

One of the bills memorializes Bill Mathews, a nine-year veteran of the Wayzata Police Department who was killed last year.

SAINT PAUL, MN – Gov. Mark Dayton Thursday signed four bills into law, including one memorializing a fallen police officer. Senate File 2484 designates a section of U.S. Highway 12 in Wayzata as “Officer Bill Mathews Memorial Highway.”

Mathews, a nine-year veteran of the Wayzata Police Department, was killed on Highway 12 while removing road debris in September.

He was outside his fully marked Wayzata squad car when he struck by another vehicle. Mathews leaves behind a wife and a seven-year-old son.

The driver who hit him was charged with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide.

Chapter 109, HF 3551, which modifies the Safe at Home program requirements, and makes technical and clarifying changes to allow participants who fear for their safety to maintain a confidential address with the Secretary of State.

Chapter 110, HF 3224 relates to credit union membership, governance, and powers and duties regulated.

Chapter 111, HF 2391 regulates health savings and medical savings accounts and asset protection.
