ST. PAUL, MN — Ken Martin, the head of the chair of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, publicly criticized a statement from a group of local socialists.

Martin said the Twin Cities chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America released a "garbage antisemitic statement" following Hamas' invasion of Isreal over the weekend.

"Read this post from @amyschumer and then let's talk," Martin said, sharing a social media post from the actress and comedian. "Until then, stop justifying the cold-blooded murder of men, women, and children by terrorists. Period. End Stop."

Schumer's post that Martin cited accused pro-Palestine activists of justifying the brutal deaths of Jewish children.

Martin was responding to the DSA's "Statement of Solidarity with Palestine" which condemned Israel and called for "justice for our Palestinian relatives."

"We are resolved to enshrine the right to freedom of movement in Palestine, in the USA, and around the globe, and to fight border fascism wherever it rears its hideous head," the DSA wrote.

"We are resolved to proclaim 'From the River, to the Sea, Palestine will be free!' today and until liberation."

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey also criticized the DSA in a statement released Tuesday:

"Appalling. This is erasure of innocent Israelis that have been murdered, and of the genocide carried out against Jews for millennia. Critique of the policies of Israel’s ruling coalition is fair game, but to do so while ignoring the atrocities committed against Jews, days ago and historically, will only let history repeat itself."

The war began when men Palestinian gunmen invaded an Israeli town Saturday and indiscriminately killed civilians, including children. An estimated 150 Israelis — most of the civilians — were taken hostage by Hamas fighters, the New York Times reported.

A spokesperson for the Israeli military told Insider that its soldiers found the decapitated corpses of babies in a community that was attacked by Hamas Sunday.
