Authorities ID Man Killed In Crash Involving Ramsey County Sheriff's Deputy

Another person was injured in the crash, which occurred Tuesday night in St. Paul.

ST. PAUL, MN — Authorities have identified the man killed Tuesday after a Ramsey County sheriff’s squad car struck an SUV just blocks from the Minnesota State Capitol. Several others were also injured in the crash.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred around 11 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Robert Street North and 12th Street East.

Police said a Ramsey County Sheriff's Office squad car was traveling westbound on 12th Street East with its emergency lights and sirens activated when it collided with a Toyota Rav4 that headed northbound on Robert Street.

The deputy was responding to a call about a stolen car at the time of the crash, The Minnesota Star Tribune reported.

The driver of the Toyota, identified as 51-year-old Tha Wah of St. Paul, was killed in the crash. A 44-year-old female and a 4-year-old boy, both passengers in the Toyota, also suffered serious injuries, according to police and reports.

The deputy and a passenger in the squad car suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect in the initial pursuit, identified as 27-year-old Yusuf Osman Musse, was taken into custody without further incident, KARE reported.
