MN Sec. Of State Calls Out Fellow Democrat On 'Rig' Claim
Steve Simon took issue with a claim made by defeated Democratic California Senate candidate and current U.S. Rep. Katie Porter.

ST. PAUL, MN — Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon — whose job entails keeping the state's voting process safe and fair — does not like baseless allegations of chicanery in elections.
It doesn't matter if the claims are coming from Republicans — like Former President Donald Trump — or someone in his own party, like defeated Democratic California Senate candidate and current U.S. Rep. Katie Porter.
Porter did not win a single county in Tuesday's primary race against her Democratic opponent, U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff. And she won only 14 percent of the vote.

Porter and Schieff are both current members of the U.S. House.
After the election was called, Porter thanked her supporter and said: "Because of you, we had the establishment running scared — withstanding 3 to 1 in TV spending and an onslaught of billionaires spending millions to rig this election."

Simon responded on social media, stating: "No. Nobody tried to 'rig' your election. That kind of language, whether on the left or the right, is lazy, wrong, and poisonous."
Simon was not the only Democrat to call Porter out on her language. But the two-term congresswoman doubled down after her comments, saying "'Rigged' means manipulated by dishonest means," and argued that: "A few billionaires spend $10 million+ on attack ads against me, including an ad rated "false" by an independent fact checker. That is dishonest means to manipulate an outcome."
Porter said she never undermined California's election process.
