Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman to Run for Governor

After 11 years as mayor of Saint Paul, Chris Coleman announced Tuesday he will run for governor of Minnesota.

After 11 years, Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman said earlier this month he would not run for re-election. On Tuesday, Coleman officially announced he will run to become the next governor of Minnesota in 2018.

"I am running for governor because I believe Minnesota is strongest when we work together," Coleman said in a statement. "I believe we are at our best when we are true to ourselves. I believe that no one has to lose so that others can win. I believe Minnesota is the greatest state in the nation. These are my guiding principles."

Coleman's opening campaign language focused on the state's economy and the environment.
