Shakopee Indians' Run As State Champs Ends
The Indians lost twice in the Super Sectional tournament, ousting the two-time defending Class B champions from the playoffs
For the first time in three years, Minnesota’s Class B amateur baseball league will have a new state champion.
The Shakopee Indians, winners of the 2009 and 2010 state baseball titles, were eliminated from the Cold Spring Super Section on Saturday with a 3-2 loss to Savage. The loss ended the Indians’ season with a 21-21 record.
Shakopee entered the Super Section after beating Jordan in a best-of-5 opening round series, winning the decisive fifth game 6-0. That set up a seeding game against Chaska on Aug. 7, which the Indians lost 6-5 and sent them into a game on Friday against Sauk Rapids as the visiting team.

Savage moved on to play Sauk Rapids and lost the Super Section title game 11-5.
