Trailer of Wheelchair Hockey Equipment Stolen in Shakopee, League Seeking Tips and Donations

The trailer is valued at $3,000 and is a white, fully-enclosed single-axle trailer with a blue PowerHockey logo on both sides.

Sometime late on Jan. 25 or early Jan. 26, a storage trailer of hockey equipment was stolen from a Shakopee parking lot, according to a report by KARE-11 news.

It wasn't just a trailer of any hockey equipment – it belongs to the Minnesota Power Hockey League, a group of men and women who use power wheelchairs on a daily basis, according to a post on the league website.

The trailer had been chained and parked for the winter in the parking lot in Shakopee with thousands of dollars worth of donated equipment inside.

The equipment was reportedly found dumped on a road outside of Wayzata High School. Some of it, including padded boards, hockey sticks, hockey nets, jerseys, a speaker, scoreboard and other miscellaneous equipment was recovered by the staff at Wayzata High School. Some of it, however, was damaged by cars running over it.

The trailer is valued at $3,000 and is a white, fully-enclosed single-axle trailer with a blue PowerHockey logo on both sides.

This is the second trailer stolen from PowerHockey in four years.

PowerHockey is seeking tips on the location of the trailer, as well as donations to cover the expenses of replacing any missing or damaged items, and a replacement trailer if the stolen one is not found. They are hoping to do this before the beginning of the 2012 league season, which starts April 28.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the Shakopee Police Department at (952) 233-9400. Those with an interest in making a donation should contact Craig McClellan with PowerHockey at (763) 535-4736 or craigm@powerhockey.com.
