2-Year-Old Dies Days After Crash In North Twin Cities Metro

COON RAPIDS, MN — The two-year-old victim involved in a crash in Coon Rapids died Wednesday, days after the collision. Police identified him as Guatam Pujari.
Police say the suspect in the case — who was arrested on suspicion of DUI — has been released from custody with charges pending.

On Nov. 30, just before 4 p.m., Coon Rapids police, first responders, and the Anoka County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene at Main Street Northwest and Shenandoah Boulevard.
Prior to their arrival, one person in the crash started CPR on the two-year-old boy who was in a car that was struck head-on.

Investigators say a Ram truck was headed eastbound on Main Street and was seen skidding sideways before crossing the center median and striking a westbound Toyota Camry head-on.
Two other cars traveling westbound Main Street were also hit, according to a news release.
The driver of the Ram truck is a 54-year-old from Blaine. He was not injured and is being held on probable cause DUI and criminal vehicular operation, police saidd.
The driver of the Toyota Camry is a Lino Lakes man. He was transported to Mercy Hospital by Allina Ambulance with minor injuries and has been released.
A woman was also transported to Mercy Hospital by Allina Ambulance in serious condition.
There were two children in this vehicle as well. A four-year-old girl was transported to Mercy Hospital by Allina Ambulance and then transferred to Children's Hospital with serious injuries
Immediately after the crash, Pujari was transported by Allina Ambulance to Mercy Hospital and then transferred to Children's Hospital.
The two other vehicles involved were a Chevrolet truck driven by a 29-year-old man from Champlin and a Honda Civic driven by a 35-year-old man from Andover. Both drivers were uninjured.
The 29-year-old performed CPR on the two-year-old victim until emergency crews arrived.
This crash remains under investigation by the Coon Rapids Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, and Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
