Arctic Cold To Return Overnight: MN Weather

MINNEAPOLIS — Following an especially warming Tuesday, when the high will reach 38, Arctic air will return to the Twin Cities metro overnight.

Wednesday's high will be 5 degrees. With the wind chill, the low will feel like 17 degrees below zero. High temperatures will rise back up into the teens this weekend.

"An Arctic cold front will move through the area late this afternoon and evening, bringing gusty winds and much colder temperatures," the National Weather Service said.

"Patchy blowing snow and icy spots on roads and other surfaces are possible."

Tuesday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 38. South southeast wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Tuesday Night: Patchy blowing snow between 9pm and 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around -1. Wind chill values as low as -17. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 5. Wind chill values as low as -21. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around -12. Wind chill values as low as -22. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday: Sunny and cold, with a high near 1. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around -12. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the evening.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of snow after noon. Increasing clouds, with a high near 16. South wind 5 to 15 mph.
