Boy, 10, Who Died Of Gunshot Wound In Minneapolis Apartment Identified

Authorities have identified the 10-year-old boy who died of a gunshot wound he received in a Minneapolis apartment Friday.

MINNEAPOLIS — The 10-year-old boy who died of a gunshot wound he received in a Minneapolis apartment Friday night has been identified.

Amare Rashaun Mayberry-Campbell, of Andover, died just before midnight of a gunshot wound in his chest. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said that the manner of death is "pending further investigation."

As Patch previously reported, Minneapolis police said officers were called to an apartment building in the 300 block of Hennepin Avenue shortly after 11:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found the boy suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, police said.

According to authorities, the boy and another juvenile family member were home alone when the shooting occurred.

Officers administered first aid before taking the boy to Hennepin Healthcare, where he later died, officials said.
