WATCH: Manhole Erupts from Heavy Rain in Minneapolis

Last night's storms in the Twin Cities resulted in flooded basements, submerged cars, and at least one erupting manhole.

Wednesday night's storms dumped heavy rain across the Twin Cities and the state, with some areas receiving more than 10 inches.

The National Weather Service reported that within 48 hours, Waseca, Minnesota was hit with 13.91 inches of rain.

Parts of Maple Grove received nearly 10 inches of rain.

Police and fire crews responded to multiple calls as severe flooding began affecting many intersections and residential basements.

Snowplows were used to push the rainwater off Interstate 94.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office warned residents against traveling during the storm and reminded drivers to never travel through submerged motorways.

During the storms, a Twitter user captured amazing video of a manhole erupting near Como Avenue and 22nd Street in Minneapolis:

Many roads throughout the Twin Cities are closed Thursday as crews work to cleanup the aftermath of the storm.

Some motorists in Maple Grove decided to take a chance and drive on closed roads Thursday morning:

The National Weather Service began advising residents to move to higher ground and be aware of flash floods in Minneapolis Wednesday evening.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood watch earlier Wednesday that remains in effect for much of eastern and southern Minnesota as well as west central Wisconsin through Thursday.
