Here Are Gophers' Chances Of Making The College Football Playoff

MINNEAPOLIS — The No. 13 Minnesota Gophers once again dominated a Big Ten opponent Saturday, decimating Maryland 52-10. Minnesota moved to 8-0, and will have a bye week before they play No. 5 Penn State at home on Nov. 9.

The Gophers are undefeated for the first time since 1941, when they went on to win a national championship.

So what are their chances of making the four-team college football playoff this year?

Computer odds

As great as this season has been, the odds are not in Minnesota's favor. The data and odds calculators at FiveThirtyEight give the Gophers a six percent chance of making the playoff.

Their odds of winning the Big Ten conference are slightly better, currently set at 10 percent.

Vegas odds

If you want to know what Vegas thinks, you can check the odds they set for college football futures. Vegas Insider currently gives the Minnesota Golden Gophers 100/1 odds at winning the national championship.

Those odds are better than the Wisconsin Badgers (300/1) and Michigan Wolverines (500/1), as both of those teams have multiple losses on the season.

The No. 13 Gophers will play No. 5 Penn State at 11 a.m. on Nov. 9 on ABC.
