Man, 59, Caught On Camera Bombing Minneapolis Hair Salon: Feds

MINNEAPOLIS — A Minneapolis man bombed a hair salon, according to federal authorities.

Michael Allen Francisco, 59, was charged Tuesday in U.S. Court with one count of maliciously damaging a building engaged in interstate commerce by means of an explosive device.

Francisco was ordered to remain in custody pending a formal detention hearing scheduled for April 8.

On Nov. 20, 2022, at about 2:50 a.m., an explosive device detonated at a hair salon located in Minneapolis, causing damage to the exterior and interior of the business.

A Ring video camera recording from the salon showed a man placing the explosive device on the window of the salon, according to investigators. The man fled the area in a vehicle before the device detonated, authorities said.

About a year later, on Nov. 6, 2023, video footage captured the same vandalizing the same hair salon, authorities said.

The man threw a landscaping rock through the window of the salon, causing the window to break, before fleeing the scene. Using DNA and other evidence, investigators connected Francisco to both incidents.

On March 28, 2024, officers and agents executed a search warrant at Francisco’s home. Authorities said they found the jacket Francisco was wearing during the 2023 brick incident; multiple explosive components including suspected energetic powders and fuses; a .32 caliber Iver Johnson Cadet revolver, with ammunition; and methamphetamine.

Francisco has a prior felony conviction, which means he is barred from possessing firearms or ammunition at any time
