Man Charged With Murder Of Unborn Child In Minneapolis

The baby was delivered after the pregnant mother was shot and killed on July 5. The child died about a month later.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Minneapolis police detectives signed an additional murder charge Thursday related to a fatal shooting that killed a pregnant woman and her infant. At four weeks, the infant was delivered after the shooting and died a month later.

On the night of July 5, Minneapolis police responded to the area of 37th Street East and Elliot Avenue and found a pregnant woman suffering from a gunshot wound.

The woman's infant was delivered at a hospital and placed into the NICU, but the mother was later pronounced dead. The child died on Aug. 5.

In July, Zachary Victor Robinson Jr. was arrested in Illinois and charged with murder in the death of the mother.

On Thursday, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman added the charge of murder of an unborn child in the second degree to the case against Robinson.
