An appearance in the College Football Playoff is potentially on the line for the Minnesota Gophers this week as they prepare for Iowa.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Gophers are preparing for their next big challenge after upsetting Penn State, which was ranked No. 5 by the College Football Playoff committee going into Saturday's game.
PJ Fleck and the Gophers will match up against the Iowa Hawkeyes Saturday, playing away at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes were ranked 18 in the CFP rankings last week, but will likely drop after losing to the No. 13 Wisconsin Badgers Saturday.
The Hawkeyes have been mathematically eliminated from Big Ten West contention, but will hope to play spoiler against the Gophers, who need to wins to clinch the West.

Last week, the CFP committee ranked the undefeated Gophers No. 17, which many fans and some analysts considered a snub. Minnesota will likely shoot up to the top ten, if not the top five, after defeated Penn State and going 9-0.
