"Fired up to be back in the big dance," head coach Rich Pitino said on Twitter Sunday. "Happy for our guys and our fans!"

Minnesota's victories over Penn State and Purdue this weekend secured the team's spot in the college basketball tournament. Minnesota (21-13) was seeded No. 10 and will take on No. 7 Louisville in round one Thursday at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
