Minnesota National Guard Activated Ahead Of Vice President Visit

Vice President Mike Pence and Ivanka Trump will be in Minneapolis Thursday for a "Cops for Trump" event.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Gov. Tim Walz activated the Minnesota National Guard to help local police during Vice President Mike Pence's visit Thursday. "Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of Minnesotans, we have asked the Minnesota National Guard to assist in keeping the peace," Walz said in a news release.

The city of Minneapolis requested the presence of the National Guard, according to Walz's office.

The National Guard will mobilize 100 soldiers and provide equipment and facilities needed for Thursday's public safety efforts.

"Cops for Trump" Listening Session in Minneapolis

Pence and Ivanka Trump will host a "Cops for Trump" listening session in Minneapolis Thursday. The event is taking place at the InterContinental in Minneapolis at 3 p.m.
