Saturday Kickoff For Vikings Vs. Packers: How To Watch

GREEN BAY, WI — The Green Bay Packers (7-7) announced Tuesday they have signed quarterback Joe Callahan and placed Aaron Rodgers on injured reserve, shutting him down for the final two games of the season. The Minnesota Vikings will face backup quarterback Brett Hundley Saturday.

A Rodgers start against Minnesota would have set up rematch between him and Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr, whose hit broke Rodgers’ collarbone back in week six.

The Vikings (11-3) knocked off Cincinnati 34-7 and locked up the NFC North division title Sunday in front the home crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium. It marks the second division title for the Vikings in the past three seasons.

Meanwhile, Carolina quarterback Cam Newton threw four touchdown passes and rushed for 58 yards in the Panthers’ 31-24 victory against the Green Bay Packers, quarterback spoiling Aaron Rodgers' first game back since his Oct. 15 injury. The Packers have since been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

First-round bye

The Vikings control their own destiny as it pertains to securing a first-round playoff bye. By winning out, Minnesota will finish with at least the second seed in the NFC. The Vikings play the Packers (7-7) in Green Bay Saturday and the Chicago Bears (4-10) in Minneapolis the following week.

If the Vikings finish with the same record as the Panthers (currently 10-4), the tie would go to Carolina, who beat Minnesota in week 14.
