TWIN CITIES, MN — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather alert for the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area and much of central Minnesota as a wintry mix of snow and rain heads out way.

Among the counties included in the alert are Wright, Hennepin, Anoka, Ramsey, Washington, Carver, Scott, and Dakota.

"This Afternoon and Tonight. A wintry mix of light precipitation will develop over southwestern Minnesota after midnight tonight, and gradually spread north and east across the area overnight."

Tuesday through Sunday.

"The wintry mix of precipitation will continue across the region on Tuesday. Areas in western and central Minnesota could see some light freezing rain mix in Tuesday morning. Areas in southern and eastern Minnesota, and western Wisconsin have a higher chance of seeing some accumulating heavy, wet snow on Tuesday."

Monday Night: Snow likely, mainly after 3am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 30. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tuesday: Rain, possibly mixed with snow, mainly before 5pm. Patchy fog before 9am, then patchy fog after noon. High near 38. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Tuesday Night: A chance of drizzle and snow before 8pm, then a chance of drizzle between 8pm and midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 35. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. North wind around 5 mph.
Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph after midnight.
Thanksgiving Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. West wind around 5 mph.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 40. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 28. West southwest wind around 5 mph.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 44. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 29. South southwest wind around 10 mph becoming west northwest after midnight.
