Minnesota Weather: More Chances For Snow This Week
A total of 7.9 inches of snow fell in the Twin Cities metro Tuesday, and there may be more to come.
TWIN CITIES, MN — Tuesday's massive October snowstorm in Minnesota was surely one for the history books. The 7.9 inches of snow that fell in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area broke the record for the heaviest storm so early in the season, according to the National Weather Service.
Eau Claire, Wisconsin saw 6.9 inches of snow, making it snowiest day on record for October.
The storm wrecked havoc on Minnesota roads. According to the State Patrol, during the Tuesday evening rush hour, there were 147 crashes, including 14 that involved a non-fatal injury.

There were also 269 vehicle spin outs and five jackknifed semis.
And the wintery weather isn't over yet. Thursday may see a small amount of snow accumulation. There may also be snow this weekend.

Northern Minnesota is expected to be hit with its own snowstorm as well.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday Night: Cloudy, with a low around 32. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph after midnight.
Thursday: A chance of snow before 9am, then rain likely, possibly mixed with freezing rain between 9am and 10am, then rain after 10am. Some thunder is also possible. High near 36. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Thursday Night: Rain likely, mainly before 7pm. Cloudy, with a low around 32. North northwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 36. North northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday: A 20 percent chance of snow after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. Northeast wind around 5 mph.
Saturday Night: A 50 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 28. East northeast wind around 5 mph.
Sunday: Snow likely before 2pm, then rain and snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. East northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. Northwest wind around 5 mph.
Monday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19. West northwest wind around 5 mph.
