Minnesota Weather: Weekend Warmup, More Snow Next Week

TWIN CITIES, MN — Thursday will be the last day of bitter cold this week. Mild temperatures are expected to arrive just in time for the weekend. "We have one more morning of frigid wind chills before the end of week warmup begins," says the National Weather Service.

There will be several chances for snow next week.

Here's the NWS forecast for the Twin Cities:

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 14. Wind chill values as low as -11. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday Night: Clear, with a low around 9. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 40. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 21. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 37. Calm wind becoming south southwest around 5 mph in the morning.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 22. South southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. North northeast wind around 5 mph.

Monday: A slight chance of snow before 1 p.m., then a slight chance of rain and snow between 1pm and 5pm, then a slight chance of snow after 5 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. North northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
