MINNEAPOLIS — Four-time Pro Bowler Everson Griffen is back with the Minnesota Vikings after his messy departure from the team in 2019. The defensive end signed with the team Monday.

Griffen plans to apologize to Kirk Cousins — the team's starting quarterback since 2018 — for a vulgar tweet he sent in January when he was a member of the Detriot Lions.

"Kirk Cousins is ass," Griffen said in the since-deleted tweet. "Ask ZIMMER if he wanted Kirk????? He will tell you the truth??? Who wanted Kirk Cousins???? Take your guess???"

"I take full ownership in that," Griffen said in a news conference Tuesday. "I’ve still got to talk to Kirk and apologize to him about that."

Griffen also said he was "happy to be home" and back with the Vikings.
