MN Weather: Heatwave Will Be Shortlived In MN

Following the spike in temperatures on Wednesday, more typical Minnesota winter weather will return in time for Christmas.

TWIN CITIES, MN — The high temperature for Wednesday will spike to 54 degrees in the Twin Cities, according to the National Weather Service.

However, temperatures will quickly fall back to normal, starting Thursday.

The long-range forecast produced by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration shows that Minnesotans should expect temperatures to be about average to end the year.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 40. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph.

Tuesday Night: A chance of drizzle, mainly after 5am. Patchy dense fog after midnight. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Southeast wind around 10 mph.

Wednesday: Drizzle likely, mainly after 3pm. Areas of dense fog before noon. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. South southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday Night: Rain before 1am, then a slight chance of rain and snow between 1am and 3am, then a slight chance of snow after 3am. Some thunder is also possible. Low around 25. Breezy, with a south southeast wind 15 to 25 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 25 by 5pm. Breezy, with a west wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.
