MN Weather: Messy Mix Of Snow, Freezing Rain Will Hit Metro

TWIN CITIES, MN — A messy mix of snow and freezing rain will cause headaches on the road Thursday.

"A Clipper system arrives Thursday bringing snow, rain, a wintry mix, and gusty winds into Friday," the National Weather Service said

Thursday: Snow likely after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 36. West northwest wind 5 to 15 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Rain and snow likely, possibly mixed with freezing drizzle before 9pm, then rain likely, possibly mixed with snow between 9pm and midnight, then a slight chance of drizzle and snow after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature rising to around 37 by 11pm. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 20 by 5pm. Breezy, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -1. Blustery, with a north northwest wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 9. North northwest wind around 5 mph becoming west southwest in the afternoon.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -1. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming south southeast after midnight.
