In-Person Classes Canceled For Some Minneapolis Schools Due To Heat
Minneapolis schools that are not fully air-conditioned will close Tuesday and instead hold online classes.
MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis Public Schools announced Monday that schools that are not fully air-conditioned will move to e-learning Tuesday due to the dangerously hot temperatures in the forecast.
Schools that will move to online learning include Anthony, Anwatin, Bryn Mawr, Field, Hiawatha, Kenny, Kenwood, Lake Harriet Lower, Lake Harriet Upper, Longfellow, Northrup, Pratt, Roosevelt, and Sheridan.
The school buildings will be closed to the public on Tuesday. All after-school activities will be canceled for these schools as well.

All other schools in the district will continue with regular in-person learning on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service on Monday issued an excessive heat warning for Hennepin Hennepin, Anoka, Ramsey, Washington, Carver, Scott, and Dakota County. The warning will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Residents in the Twin Cities metro area should be prepared for dangerously hot conditions, with a high near 98 degrees and a heat index value of up to 103 degrees.
