Prince Prescribed Drugs Under Bodyguard's Name: Report

A doctor told investigators he prescribed Prince drugs under his bodyguard's name in order to protect his privacy, unsealed documents state.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Global rock legend Prince Rogers Nelson was prescribed drugs under his bodyguard’s name in order to protect his privacy, investigative records unsealed Monday revealed. Documents show that Dr. Michael Schulenberg told a detective that he prescribed oxycodone to Prince on April 14, 2016, but put the prescription in Kirk Johnson’s name for Prince’s privacy.

Prince was found dead on April 21 at the age of 57. He died after taking fentanyl, an opioid pain-killer that is highly addictive, a medical examiner later found.

Witnesses interviewed after his death said Prince had a recent history of going through withdrawals, "which are believed to be the result of the abuse of prescription medication," documents state.
