'Prolonged' Cold Air Mass Settles In Twin Cities: MN Weather

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesotans shouldn't expect the weather to turn warm anytime soon. The long-range forecast shows a colder March in the works.

"A prolonged cool air mass will settle across the region and keep temperatures below the seasonal average for early March," the National Weather Service said Monday.

"There are a couple small chances for light snow, but no significant system are expected to impact the Upper Mississippi River Valley this week."

One year ago today, the high temperature in the Twin Cities was 62. On Monday, it's 29 degrees.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 16. West wind around 5 mph becoming south after midnight.

Tuesday: A slight chance of rain and snow before 4pm, then a slight chance of snow between 4pm and 5pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 36. South wind 5 to 15 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 14. West northwest wind around 10 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 22. West northwest wind around 10 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
