Slushy Snow Is Back In The Forecast In Minnesota

The National Weather Service said that "light slushy accumulation" is possible early this week in the Twin Cities metro area.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Like it or not, snow is back in the forecast in Minnesota. The Twin Cities metro could see snow Tuesday and Wednesday, along with cold rain.

"Rain chances increase later today and last through Wednesday," the National Weather Service said.

"Most locations will see around a half inch to an inch, with lesser amounts across western Minnesota. Rain will change over to snow as the system departs with a light slushy accumulation possible."

Here's what to expect Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the NWS:

Tuesday: Rain. High near 46. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Rain before 3am, then rain and snow. Low around 35. North wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Wednesday: Snow, possibly mixed with rain, mainly before 1pm. High near 41. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday Night: A slight chance of rain and snow before midnight, then a slight chance of snow between midnight and 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. North wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

The weather will turn slightly warmer to finish up the week.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 46. Breezy, with a west wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. North northwest wind around 15 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 24. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east northeast after midnight.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 45. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
