Southwest Football Ends Regular Season On a Victory
Lakers down St. Paul Johnson 20-14 in emotional battle
The Southwest Minneapolis football team took on St. Paul Johnson on Wednesday afternoon at home in their final regular season game.
In a roller coaster game of emotions, the Lakers came out on top by the score of 20-14. After being tied 7-7, the Lakers jumped out to a 20-7 lead.
The Lakers utilized multiple offensive weapons to build their lead, from quarterback Maurice Alexander, who posed more of a running threat, and quarterback Max Roberts, who posed more of a passing threat, as well as multiple running backs and receivers.

St. Paul Johnson attempted to come back, but the Laker defense never gave up a big play that would shift the momentum in the Governors favor. The cornerbacks and safeties broke up numerous pass plays downfield to keep the Governor's offense in check.
That's not to say it was smooth sailing for the Lakers. A scoring drive by St. Paul Johnson made the score 20-14, with plenty of time left on the clock. And the prior missed extra point attempt by the Lakers now made it possible for the Governors to reclaim the lead on any big play.
