WATCH: MN Troopers Rescue Suspect from Fiery Crash After High-Speed Pursuit

A speeding vehicle. A high-speed pursuit. A fiery crash. A life saved. All that happened in one call — Trooper Taylor Carter’s very first shift last year after graduating from the Minnesota State Patrol Academy.

Carter and fellow Troopers Scott Smith and Mike Lee were given the Meritorious Service Award Thursday at the annual State Patrol Awards Ceremony.

A dash cam captured the May 23 incident that started on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis and ended when the driver fled, led troopers on a 100 mph pursuit, and crashed and rolled his vehicle at I-694 and East River Road.

The troopers were able to pull the man from his burning vehicle.
