Weather Postpones I-394, I-94 Ramp Closures In Minneapolis

The closures were originally scheduled to start April 16.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Thanks to spring's wintry start, the Minnesota Department of Transportation is delaying several ramp closures in the Twin Cities west metro. The closures were originally scheduled to start April 16.

  • The closure from eastbound Interstate 394 to westbound I-94 has been postponed until Monday, April 23.
  • The ramp closure from northbound Lyndale Avenue S to westbound I-94 is also postponed until April 23.
  • The ramp closures are part of the I-94 Minneapolis to Brooklyn Center project and needed to complete bridge repairs. The ramps will be closed through mid-June 2018.

For the eastbound I-394 ramp to westbound I-94 closure, motorists should follow the posted detour and take northbound Highway 100, prior to the I-394/I-94 junction, to eastbound Highway 55, to northbound Lyndale Avenue and then to the westbound I-94 entrance ramp.

Access from eastbound I-394 to eastbound I-94 will remain open.

I-94 Minneapolis to Brooklyn Center is a maintenance and restoration project for a nine-mile stretch of I-94 between Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis and Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center.

In 2017, MnDOT resurfaced nine miles of freeway and repaired almost 50 bridges and the Lowry Tunnel. 2018 is the second and final year of the project.
