Why has your cat stopped using the litter box?
Your cat isn't necessarily misbehaving when he/she decides to stop using the litter box. There could be some medical reasons for this!
Has Whiskers taken a liking to the family heirloom Persian rug, and forgot all about the litterbox in the basement? Here are a few things to consider: he may have a urinary tract infection, crystals or other urinary issues which cause pain while using the litterbox, or even urinary blockage. Bring your kitty to the vet as soon as you notice the issue. Also, make sure you have as many litterboxes as you have cats, plus 1, scoop them daily, dump and clean them every 2 weeks, and allow your kitties to “choose” their litter as they do have preferences.
