Winning Gopher 5 Numbers For Friday, Feb. 9, 2018: $345K Jackpot

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — There was no winning in the Wednesday Gopher 5 lottery drawing, so the jackpot has been increased to an estimated $345,000 for the Friday, Feb. 9 drawing. The winning numbers for Wednesday were: 11 - 12 - 16 - 30 - 45. Check with back with Patch Friday for the new numbers.

Gopher 5 lottery drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:17 p.m. Tickets must be bought by 6:10 p.m. on drawing days.

The last big Gopher 5 winner was on Jan. 5, when one ticket matched all five numbers on to win $120,000.

Lottery news: Lotto America launches Nov. 12

Lotto game fans will soon have a new option. Lotto AmericaSM, the game that paved the way for Powerball is making a comeback. The new Lotto America features a new play style, but like the original, is only $1 to play. Lotto America launches on Nov. 12.

“Our players like to have a variety of games and jackpots to choose from. For just $1, Lotto America gives players the chance to win a multi-million dollar jackpot,” said Lottery Executive Director Robert Doty in a statement. “The Lottery is a win for Minnesotans because a portion of every dollar played helps Minnesota’s environment and important state services.”

The initial starting Lotto America jackpot is getting a boost from the retired Hot Lotto® game. Lotto America jackpots will normally start at $2 million and grow until won. Since no one won the Hot Lotto jackpot before the game ended on Oct. 28, the initial advertised Lotto America jackpot will be $15 million (annuity) for the first drawing on Wednesday, Nov. 15. Money in the Hot Lotto jackpot pool will also be used to fund other Lotto America prize pools and for Minnesota player promotions, according to a news release.

Thirteen lotteries will offer Lotto America when the game launches: Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee and West Virginia. New Hampshire will begin offering Lotto America in January 2018.

How to play Lotto America

Select five numbers from 1 to 52 and one Lotto America Star BallSM number from 1 to 10, or select the “quick pick” option for randomly selected numbers.

There are nine ways to win prizes. The jackpot, won by matching the first five numbers and the Lotto America Star Ball) is either an annuitized prize paid out over 29 years (30 payments) or a one-time, lump sum cash payment. Overall odds to win a prize are approximately 1 in 9.6. Approximate odds to win the jackpot are 1 in 25.9 million.

For an extra $1 per play, the All Star BonusSM gives players the chance to multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2 – 5X (players can win $4 - $100,000).
