2 Washington Co. Libraries Close Friday Due To Power Outages

More than 70,000 customers in the Twin Cities metro area woke up without power Friday morning after severe weather hit the region.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — The Lake Elmo Library and the Park Grove Library are closed Friday because of power outages. The libraries will be closed until power is restored.

Nearby in Dakota County, hundreds of trees and countless power lines came down across Inver Grove Heights, Eagan, and Rosemount, commissioner Joe Atkins said.

Several severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for the area in the early morning hours and the National Weather Service reported a wind gust as high as 64 MPH at Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport.

Responding to customers online, Xcel Energy said it does not have an estimate for when power will be restored.
