A Historical Celebration in Stillwater

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Last week, I was honored to attend the End of the Logging Era 100th Anniversary Boom Site National Landmark Commemoration in Stillwater. The event was sponsored by the Washington County Historical Society, Friends of the St. Croix Boom Site and the St. Croix River Association.

The St. Croix Boom Site was a major logging storage and handling area in Minnesota that was in operation from 1856 to 1914. At the peak of business, stored logs could cover over nine miles of the St. Croix River. This event was a great way to learn about our local history and an important Minnesota industry.

Also last week, I was honored to present a Minnesota House of Representatives resolution to Kathy Bystrom. She is the Community Health Outreach Manager at Fairview Lakes Medical Center and was being recognized by the Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau for her outstanding volunteer work on behalf of youth.

The ceremony celebrating her service to others took place at the Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau in Forest Lake.

Congratulations Kathy and thank you for your service to others!

As always, thank you for the honor and privilege of being your state representative.

Sincerely,

Bob
