Today, State Representative Bob Dettmer (R-Forest Lake) was presented a wreath at the Minnesota State Capitol as part of National Wreaths Across America Week. Dettmer, a veteran and active American Legion and VFW member, received the symbolic wreath from members of the Minnesota Civil Air Patrol (CAP) at 10:30 a.m. CST, the same time wreaths were presented to state legislative leaders at capitol buildings around the nation. Wreaths Across America (WAA) works to honor and remember the fallen men and women of our military in addition to teaching future generations about their sacrifices.
Today's ceremonies around the nation are part of a week leading to WAA's National Wreaths Across America Day this Saturday, Dec. 14. Dettmer plans to bring the wreath to his hometown of Forest Lake where it will be displayed in various venues through the holiday season.
