Forest Lake Police Department Is 'Saved'

Reportedly "successful negotiations" took place Wednesday night between the city of Forest Lake and the city's police officers union.

FOREST LAKE, MN — The Washington County Sheriff's Office announced that "successful negotiations" took place Wednesday night between the city of Forest Lake and the city's police officers union, which was represented by Law Enforcement Labor Services (LELS). The agreement came several hours after Washington County Sheriff Dan Starry decided to withdraw the contract proposal and not forward it to the County Commissioners for consideration.

Starry met with interested parties in hopes of facilitating a discussion that might end in a resolution that would allow the city to retain their police department.

"I can officially confirm!!! THE RUMORS ARE TRUE!!!! FLPD is saved!!!!!" Forest Lake City Council Mara Bain said on Facebook Wednesday night.
