Holistic or Integrative Veterinary Therapy for Pets

Holistic or Integrative veterinary care for pets is the topic of an upcoming seminar on Tuesday, March 11 at Rivertown Animal Hospital in Stillwater, Minnesota.  Mary Arnesen, DVM, will be speaking on:  Integrating Eastern and Western Veterinary Medicine: Veterinary Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Cold Laser Therapy. The seminar runs from 7-8:30 at Rivertown Animal Hospital in Stillwater’s Liberty Village.  Preregistration is required. Tuition is $10.

Dr. Mary Arnesen is certified in veterinary acupuncture (CVA), veterinary chiropractic (CVC), and holds a graduate diploma in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine (GDVCHM) which is a post-graduate accreditation.  Dr. Arnesen’s extensive training in these alternative modalities has benefited many dog and cat patients. 

During the seminar, Dr. Arnesen will discuss how she has successfully helped her patients including dogs and cats with arthritis, intervertebral disc disease, autoimmune disorders, hyperthyroidism and allergies.  Dr. Arnesen sees many patients who have responded poorly to more traditional therapies. They are frequently in pain and dealing with a variety of severe disabilities. By using an integrative approach these patients often have remarkable recoveries and achieve a much higher quality of life.

Integrative veterinary practitioners utilize conventional Western medicine along with alternative modalities including acupuncture, chiropractic, Chinese herbal therapies, cold laser therapy and nutritional interventions to treat their patients.  Often referred to as holistic care, practitioners of integrative therapies prefer the terms Integrative or “complementary” to emphasize that they are using alternative therapies along with traditional treatments not as replacements of mainstream care.
