Flooding in Our Area

As you know, strong rains and storms have caused flooding across the state including the metro area. With water levels rising along the St. Croix, the Minnesota and the Mississippi rivers, many people are seeing water damage and flooding in their area.

I am hopeful you and your family have stayed dry and safe, but if you have had issues with flooding, I would strongly encourage to you take advantage of state resources.

The Department of Commerce’s Disaster Center can assist you with questions, concerns, or complaints following a damaging storm, flood or tornado. They can work with your insurance to settle claims and answer questions about damage to your property.

Their website is http://mn.gov/commerce/consumers/disaster-information-center/. They can also be reached by phone at 651.539.1600.

You can also find state park closure information at the Department of Natural Resources website and the latest road closure information on the MnDOT website.

Boys State

Last week, I was honored to attend the Boys State convention.

Boys State is a wonderful event put on by the American Legion that teaches students about city, county and state government. Around 350 boys participated this year including five from Forest Lake.

I was an event speaker along with Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and Governor Mark Dayton. Additionally, I participated in a panel with representatives from several branches of the military and answered questions about joining our U.S. armed forces. It was wonderful to hear from so many young men interested in serving their nation, and it was a great experience.

Congratulations to all the boys who participated! I hope you enjoyed learning more about local government and found the experience to be valuable.

As always, thank you for the honor and privilege of being your state representative.

Sincerely,

Bob
