Halloween week brings lots of tricks, and sometimes too many treats for kids, so PowerUp has created a fun and festive alternative! Kids of all ages are invited to bring in a bag of Halloween candy to a PowerUp Candy Trade-In Event on November 1st or 2nd and trade in candy for PowerUp prizes of their choice!
In addition, every kid who participates is also entered in a prize drawing for a 4 pack of tickets to either Sky Zone or Fun Jumps. Chomp, the superhero of Lakeview’s PowerUp initiative, may even make an appearance at selected sites, giving out prizes for kids who show up!
The PowerUp Candy Trade in means PowerUp prizes for kids, and treats for our troops too! All candy traded-in will be sent as part of care packages to members of the United States Military. Thanking our troops for their service is yet another good reason to start a new tradition and participate in the Candy Trade-In. Kids can even write a note to military service members to include in care packages when they bring in their candy.
Why is PowerUp sponsoring a Candy Trade-In? Because, PowerUp is all about making easy, fun, and popular for kids and families to eat better and be active. “It can be hard to eat well with an overabundance of candy at holidays from October through the New Year,” said to Marna Canterbury, MS, RD, Director of Community Health in the Lakeview Foundation. “Families have told PowerUp that they are looking for new, fun, traditions that are not focused just on food and sweets. The Candy Trade-In provides kids with a fun way to make a different choice, and families a way to help everyone eat better and PowerUp. It’s also a way to say thank you to those serving in the military.”
