Through the years, the Valley Chamber Chorale has been known for bringing to the Valley not only the finest in choral music and choral singing, but also for engaging and collaborating with the finest talents from across the country.
For their final concert of our 2013 – 2014 season, Saturday, April 12, 2014, 7:30 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, the Chorale is thrilled to welcome back Roosevelt André Credit. Roosevelt’s profound and spirited performances have served to shape his career both nationally and internationally. He has performed on and off Broadway and is at this time touring the U.S., including last week’s performances in St. Paul, with the Tony Award and Grammy nominated production of The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. Acknowledged for his humanitarianism and good will, Roosevelt was awarded the Theron Montgomery Award by the Broadway community twice, recognizing him as a positive role model both on and off stage. He has worked with Kids Project of New York as teacher, actor and puppeteer for disability awareness education for children and received a Proclamation from Mayor Bloomberg for his work. Roosevelt was a featured performer at the Barack Obama 2009 Pennsylvania Inaugural Ball in Washington D.C. He is well known throughout New York for his various solo, conducting, and composing skill and his extensive repertoire includes opera, oratorio, jazz, spirituals, pop, and musicals.
At this concert you will hear the VCC and Roosevelt in music that is both profound and powerful: African American spirituals and gospel music as well as the Minnesota premiere of “The Cry of Jeremiah” by Rosephanye Powell, written for choir, narrator, multiple percussionists and organ.
Tickets for the event can be purchased through the Chorale’s box office at 651-430-0124 or on line at www.valleychamberchorale.org. This concert is sponsored, in part, by the The Lowell Inn.
