Fifth-Grade Students Perform at Minnesota Choral Directors Conference

Fifth-grade students from Park Spanish Immersion School, along with their music teacher, Deborah Lamb were invited to perform at the state-wide conference of the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota on Friday, Nov. 16.  They prepared and performed two songs: La, Ti, Do Re and Home to Oyster Bay for the audience of choral directors and parents. Ms. Lamb has been a long-time member of the organization and has served in leadership roles involving children’s choirs, thus the invitation. They were the only elementary choir and the youngest singers to participate in this year’s conference.

Following their performance, they were honored to work with well-known children’s choir conductor Mary Alice Stollak.  She gave them many ideas and techniques for making their singing even more beautiful and exciting.  At the conclusion of their session the ensemble was awarded a certificate in recognition of their outstanding musical performance.

Students agreed it was a great adventure.  They enjoyed being the teachers!
