Long-time ski industry veteran and Hoigaard’s employee Bill Horgan is a national finalist in Skiing Business Magazine’s “Shop Hero” competition. Hoigaard’s is also a finalist for Skiing Business Magazine’s award for “Best Women’s Engagement.”
Horgan, 65, is a ski industry veteran and former teacher. As the former owner and director of Minnetonka’s Blizzard Ski and Snowboard School, Horgan helped to teach thousands of Minnesota kids to enjoy snowsports in Minnesota. For the past 15 years, Horgan has worked in ski, bike and inline skates sales at Hoigaard’s where he’s encouraged countless children and adults to “play outside” whether it be on skis, on a bike or inline skates.
“Bill was an obvious choice,” said Hoigaard’s President Todd Brewer of Horgan’s nomination. “Bill goes the extra mile with every single customer and truly enjoys the opportunity to encourage young skiers.” Horgan says he often runs into his customers on the slopes, both in Minnesota and out west and truly enjoys the chance to interact with his customers on the snow as well as in the store. Horgan related that one such family recognized him at Big Sky Resort in Montana and was so excited that they bought him lunch!
Hoigaard’s is also a finalist for Skiing Business Magazine’s award for “Best Women’s Engagement” for their work to encourage women to enjoy snowsports. Through programs and events such as Hoigaard’s Outdoor Women (HOW), special women-specific events, clinics and ski trips, Hoigaard’s has worked to support and encourage women to get out on skis and snowboards.
Voting for the Shop Hero competition ends January 10th. The top three competitors will be flown to the SnowSports Industries America (SIA) SnowShow in Denver, CO January 31st – February 3rd where the winners will be announced.
