In early October, a dozen St. Louis Park fifth- and sixth-graders participated in an honor choir at the annual gathering of the Midwest Kodály Music Educators of America conference in Omaha, NE.
Students participated in rehearsals with Deborah Lamb, music teacher at Park Spanish Immersion Elementary and St. Louis Park Middle School. They met all through the fall in order to memorize their music.
Upon arrival in Omaha on Friday, Oct. 5, they met with their guest conductor, Lynnel Joy Jenkins. They had a wonderful time meeting other singers from across the Midwest and learning to sing many enjoyable songs with them as one choir.

Their concert was performed on Saturday, Oct. 6 for family, friends and music educators in attendance at the conference.
Even though it was a lot of hard work, students agreed it was well worth the effort because they learned so much, met many interesting people and worked with a really great conductor – Ms. Jenkins!
