Blotter: Woman Wire-Swindled, Man Robbed Twice

Editor's Note: The following incidents occurred between June 1 and June 7, and were included in the St. Louis Park Police Department's most recent weekly report. Specific details come from individual incident reports maintained by the department.

June 4 - A 25-year-old man was arrested for violating an order of protection at a house on the 4100 block of Meadowbrook Lane. A resident reported his violation of the order, but when officers showed up on the scene he was no longer present. The suspect was arrested by a Brooklyn Center police officer that same day and subsequently taken into custody by the St. Louis Park police.

June 4 - Two separate incidents of property theft at the LA Fitness center located off of Hwy. 100 were reported by the same individual. Police responded to the club, where the victim reported that his vehicle had been broken into and his laptop, valued at approximately $1000, had been stolen from the floor. During the same period an iPhone, valued at $500, had been stolen from the man’s unlocked locker room in the LA Fitness men’s locker room. Police have no suspects.

June 5 - An 84-year-old woman in the 5800 block of 25th Street reported that she had been swindled out of more than $4,000 via wire fraud. The victim reported having received phone calls from a man claiming to be a friend of her grandson’s, and was convinced to electronically transfer funds to the caller after being told her grandson required bail money. Officers advised her to file fraud reports with Western Union and Money Gram, the companies used to wire the money. The police have no suspects.

June 7 - Officers were dispatched to Dakota Park when a 51-year-old man reported that another man had verbally threatened him after the caller had let his dog off its leash. The victim reported that he and the man had been involved in altercations over the unleashed dog on at least one prior occasion. An officer advised the victim that, were he to encounter the suspect again, he should contact the police immediately.

June 8 - An officer responded to a report of shoplifting from a T-Mobile store located on Excelsior Boulevard. A store employee reported that three Galaxy phones, together valued at almost $1500, had been stolen by two adult males, who had taken the phones by ripping them from their security wires and running out of the store. The employee told police that the company’s corporate office would provide surveillance footage of the suspects when it became available.
