Orioles Put the Hurt on Totino in Win
Park baseball pushes across 10 runs in exciting win.
It was a brisk, cool afternoon on Tuesday at Dakota Park, but the St. Louis Park baseball team had hot bats in a 10-7 win over a strong Totino-Grace team in a North Suburban game.
The win evens Park's record at 1-1. Juniors Cole Hoyt, Parker Stennes and Austin Broz had key hits, and seniors Jacolbi Courington-Meier and Zach Lewis have had powerful bats. The Orioles scored six runs over the first five innings in mounting a 6-1 advantage. Ryan Froom started and struck out five, allowing six hits before surrendering a pair of long doubles that sent him packing. The Eagles struck for six in the sixth to take a 7-6 lead.
Aaron McEachran's club immediately responded with four in the sixth on hits by Hoyt, Stennes, Courington-Meier and Froom. With two down and runners at first and third, McEachran called for Froom to get caught in a rundown long enough so Hoyt could break from third and score for the exciting 10th run. Austin Broz tamed the Eagles bats in the seventh for the win.

Last week in a 6-4 loss to St. Francis, Courington-Meier pitched spectacular but four Oriole errors resulted in five unearned runs. He also had two good hits. Zach Lewis powered a long home run in his first at bat of the season. Last season, he also homered in his first at bat of the season. Lewis was the Orioles No. 1 starter last season and the Orioles are hoping he can come back soon from injury problems to take his spot on the mound. Thursday, the Orioles play at Chisago Lakes and Saturday the 14th the Orioles play at Minneapolis South (Van Cleve Park) at 2 p.m.

Mark your calendars: The Friday 4/20 game will be A "Food and Fun" Friday as hot dogs, chips and soda, and candy will be for sale. Also, Orioles game-used jerseys from past seasons and shirts will be for sale. Linnea Donahue will be selling her rhinestone design shirts, with proceeds to benefit former player Derrick Keller, who . Everyone should come out and support Park baseball.
