Widlcats Come From Behind To Stun BSM
Red Knights' second-half collapse Wednesday ends in 46-37 loss to Chisago Lakes in season finale.
(3-4 North Suburban Conference, 4-4 overall) opened the second half against Chisago Lakes (4-3, 4-4) Wednesday with a long kick-off return and a 36-yard touchdown scamper by sophomore quarterback Keaton Studsrud to go up 31-14, conceivably putting the game away.
But the Wildcats responded by scoring 32 of the game's next 38 points to stun the Red Knights 46-37 at BSM Stadium in the final game of the regular season.
"(Chisago Lakes) came after us (in) the second half and did some really good things," BSM co-head coach Jon Hanks said. "They got back to their bread-and-butter stuff that they really enjoy, which is smash-mouth football. We didn't respond."

The Red Knights were led by Studsrud (112 rushing yards and a touchdown; 93 passing yards and a touchdown) and senior running back Javon Snelson, who ran for 88 yards and three touchdowns.
The game's most impactful player on the night played for the Wildcats, however. Chisago running back Eric Brown torched the Red Knights' defense for 172 yards rushing, 59 yards receiving and four touchdowns—three of which came in the second half.

"We knew (Brown) was quick, and fast," Hanks said. "Containing someone like that, you have to be really disciplined and we weren't."
Despite Wednesday night's loss, the Red Knights earned the No. 2 seed in Section 6AAAA playoffs, which comes with a first-round bye. Their first playoff game is 1 p.m. on Oct. 29 at BSM Stadium.
"It's going to be fun," Studsrud said. "We've just got to fix the mental issues and we'll be fine ... (We've got to) work hard, practice more, get more mentally prepared, watch more film; do whatever we can do to just win."
