The girls alpine ski team qualified for state with a second-place finish at the Section 5 championship meet at Afton Alps on Tuesday night. The Red Knights boys team took sixth in its meet. Mary Grace Arndt led the BSM girls with a time of 1 minute, 2.1 seconds; Jordyn Dritz finished in 1:05.3, followed by Kelly Slater in 1:05.7, Hannah Cope in 1:06.6, Jaime Dritz in 1:07.9 and Paige Erickson in 1:28.7. The Red Knights claimed 332 points to edge Blake by a single point for the state berth. BSM's boys team amassed 311 points to place sixth, with Arthur Boyle earning an individual state qualification with a third-place time of 58.21 seconds. The state meet is scheduled for next Wednesday at Giants Ridge in Biwabik, Minn.
