Fire Damages Two Apartment Units in St. Louis Park

The fire was extinguished at The Edge of Uptown Apartments.

The St. Louis Park Fire Department quickly extinguished a blaze this afternoon at The Edge of Uptown Apartments, located in the 3000 block of Ottawa Avenue, in St. Louis Park, according to the City of St. Louis Park. The fire sent one resident to Hennepin County Medical Center with what were believed to be minor injuries.

Crews responded to the scene at approximately 1:45 p.m. after the report of an explosion and active fire.  Crews found a second floor unit fully engulfed with flames shooting out the windows. A second unit, located directly above the first unit, also sustained some fire damage. Fire crews were quickly able to contain the spread of the fire, and residents are expected to be able to return to their units soon. Metro Transit supplied busses to keep the temporarily displaced residents warm, and the Red Cross had a team en route to assist residents of any units unable to be occupied.

Fire crews from Edina, Hopkins, Golden Valley and Richfield were all on scene assisting the St. Louis Park Fire Department, along with the St. Louis Park Police Department and Hennepin County EMS.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
