Grab & Go Kids Planner: Weekend Fun Abounds Outdoors and Inside

Why Go: For children from birth to 24 months. Delight and stimulate your baby's senses with books and music. Build brain power. Call to register (952.847.2825)

Price: Free

 

Where: Edina Art Center, 4701 W. 64th St., Edina, 55435

When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon

Why Go: Bring your loved ones or BFFs to a Valentines workshop. Guests will create mixed-media masterpieces for that special loved one using unique papers, punches, markers and embellishments. Children must be 5 years old and up and those under 9 must be accompanied by an adult.

Price: $24 non-members /$22 members + $5.00 supply fee per person

 

Where: Hennepin County Library - Ridgedale, 12601 Ridgedale Drive, Minnetonka, 55305

When: Saturday, 11 a.m. to noon

Why Go: Children (ages 3+) and their families are invited to join film curators in a pre-show art activity, followed by a film. February's theme — "It's Cold" — includes a winter food activity with Whole Foods Market, followed by animated shorts set in winter climates.

Where: , 8300 W. Franklin Ave., St. Louis Park

When: Saturday, 2–4 p.m.

Why Go: Children of all ages are invited to partake in an afternoon of outdoor fun and games; including ice golf, snow snake toss, kick-sledding, snowshoeing and hot chocolate. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please register online.

Price: $5.50 SLP Resident, $6.50 Non-resident

 

Where: Westwood Hills Nature Center, 8300 W. Franklin Ave., St. Louis Park

When: Sunday, 3-4:30 p.m.

Why Go: Bring the family out for an adventure on snowshoes. The naturalist will provide some basics on techniques and then take you out on a hike through the woods and marsh. Warm up with a cup of hot cocoa after the hike. Snowshoes are provided. Wear warm boots and dress in layers. Ages 6 and up. Children must be accompanied by paid adult. Activity is dependent on snow conditions. You can register online.

Price: $4.50 per person (resident) / $5.50 (non-resident)
